Vintage Tablescape Thursday

This week’s post comes from Sunset Magazine’s May 1968 issue.  As a person who has hosted wine parties before, I love the integration between the wine and food at this party.  In fact, I liked this article so much, I decided to let y’all read it too!

There’s a wine to pair with every course, even dessert!  Mmmmm.  And I really want that ice bucket.

And here’s the ‘action shot’ of the party.  Now, to find some barrels…

@Gail: Thanks for stopping by! I love the barrel tables as well.

@Barbara: Sunset Magazine continues to be one of my favs!

@Miss Merry: Ah yes, 10 foot long station wagons!

@Sarah: I continue to be impressed by how dressed up people got for parties. If only men wore jackets more often!

@Martha: Mmmmm, wine and cheese parties will never go out of style.

I love visiting the past – What a fun party with the barrel tables and wine stations. I am hoping the party is “in the neighborhood” so that we don’t hurt anyone driving home in our 10′ long stationwagon!

Great party pics! Clever idea to use the wine barrels as tables. Don’t you just love that in the 60s the men are in coats and ties for an outdoor patio party. My how times have changed! Thanks for the trip back in time.

Looks like a “happening” — fun! And we’re still doing wine and cheese parties! I had barrel “end tables” when we were first married. Funny to remember those.
